About the Meadow House of Lakeside

The Meadow House is in Lakeside, Michigan, boasts a scenic back yard with a private, in-ground lap pool, (maximum depth 3 1/2 feet); multiple perennial gardens and a 1/3 acre, stroll-though meadow of prairie and ornamental grasses, a waterfall and stream and a 60 x 20 foot pond with fountain.

The Great Room
The light-filled Great Room incorporates the living room, dining area and island kitchen. It has a cathedral ceiling with exposed rafters and ceiling fans; a wood burning fireplace; book shelves and entertainment center, games closet; multiple picture widows with glass door leading to screened porch which faces the back gardens.

The Screened Porch
This is almost an outdoor living room, screened on 3 sides with semi-cathedral ceiling, 3 skylights, ceiling fan and exit to deck. The porch seats up to 10 comfortably on wicker sofa, rocker and chairs; full view of gardens; sky-chair for contemplation.

Where is Meadow House located?

  • It is in Lakeside, Michigan, which is 7 miles north of New Buffalo, Michigan off Red Arrow Highway. The House is on Lakeshore Road, the most scenic drive along Lake Michigan, in Harbor Country.
  • The area around Lakeside is called Harbor Country because of the multiple villages lining Lake Michigan. The string of villages running from New Buffalo north include; New Buffalo, Union Pier, Lakeside, Sawyer, Bridgman, St. Joseph and Benton Harbor.
  • Lakeside is 60 to 90 minutes from Chicago, depending on where in Chicago or suburbs you are coming from.
  • The house is situated on Lakeshore Road between Lake Michigan and Red Arrow Highway–the most desirable area of cottages that are treasured for their closeness to the beaches.

The First Guest Bedroom

The First Guest Bedroom (southeast) is separated from the Great room by double French doors and from connecting hallway by a solid door. The king bed can be converted into 2 twin beds; flat ceiling; ceiling fan; bath (shower/tub) located off connecting hallway and shared with the Second Guest Bedroom. It has private closet, multiple windows to back and side yards.

The Second Guest Bedroom

The Second Guest Bedroom (southwest) has an extra-long king bed, cathedral ceiling and shares the bath (shower/tub) with the First Guest Room. Has a private closet, multiple windows to side and front yard, and curtained French door leading to front deck and front gardens.

The Third Guest Room

The Third Guest Room (northwest) is separated from the Great Room by solid door; standard queen bed, a cathedral ceiling and ceiling fan; private bath and shower; private closet. It has a modern baby crib.

Master Bedroom

Master Bedroom is separated from den with a solid door; extra-long king bed; cathedral ceiling and ceiling fan; large private bath with shower-in-tub; large walk-in closet and shelf/storage space; east facing picture windows and glass door leading to private deck, pool and gardens.

The beaches?

  • The Meadow House is close to 2 of the finest beaches in the area
  • Pier Street Beach is a 10 minute walk south along scenic Lakeshore Road to Pier Street in Lakeside. There is limited parking if you decide to drive.
  • Cherry Beach is a 1 1/2 mile drive north on Lakeshore Road to the and Red Arrow Highway, the turn with in one block up Cherry Beach Road.
  • You will receive a Residents’ Pass to Cherry Beach
  • As a perk of renting you will receive a “Residents’ Pass.” This pass is exclusive to home owners and their guests (you are their guests) of Lakeside. It gives you free parking privileges at the only beach in the area that provides parking (outside of New Buffalo). Pack up your family and guests with all their gear, drive 5 minutes north and pile out at the entrance to the beach. Return to cottage course sun drenched, sandy and happy.

Details on the pool and other outside amenities

  • The lap pool is 45ft long, 11 1/2ft wide, 3 1/2ft deep (A standard pool is 40 ft long by 20 ft. wide–and varies in depth from 8 feet at the deep end to 3 1/2ft at the shallow
  • end.) So a lap pool is longer than a standard pool, but narrower, shallower and all one depth.
  • The pool is heated and has an automatic cover
  • Gas grill on deck with extra canisters provided
  • Patio umbrellas, chaise lounges, chairs, tables on pool deck.
  • Additional beach chairs provided
